Queenie’s Wee Give-Away

February 1 is Saint Brigid of Ireland day.  A little known holiday that is very special to Queenie and Honey Man as it is our wedding anniversary.

In honor of Saint Brigid and in thanksgiving for four wonderful years with Honey Man, Queenie will have her first wee give-way.

In Ireland tis tradition for school children to make St. Brigid crosses out of rushes and give them to the folks of their village.  Alas, Queenie's kingdom in Arizona does not grow rushes but I did find a suitable replacement for the crafting of a cross for this 1st give-away.

Queenie also found a wee cloisonné bell perfect for tea parties and ringing in waves of happiness to sweep aside any winter blues that can hide in the corners about this time of year.

Queenie’s first wee give-way includes…

Word-full Wednesday

A few words about Wordless Wednesday...

Waaaaayy back when Queenie was a theatre gypsy I explored and practice all forms of creative adventures full tilt…  When Queenie’s muse led her to blogland last year the need to revisit a long forgotten creative adventure floated to the surface… Sketching  Queenie’s more or less weekly Wordless Wednesday posts are my sketching exercises in my beautiful handmade journal pictured here.  Which, as you recall I received from Amber at Making My Rent

Yesterday in the wee hours of the morning B the Brave set off on his long trip back to Afghanistan after a week’s leave with the Queenie Mother and Father at the homestead in beautiful Ohio.  This is the Queenie Father with B the Brave just as they were heading off to the airport.

This is the Queenie Mother with B the Brave, both bravely holding back goodbye tears.

Please hold B the Brave in your thoughts and prayers for safety, health and length of days in his beloved military career.

Have a great day,

Monday Musings

Cowardice asks the question - is it safe? Expediency asks the question - is it politic? Vanity asks the question - is it popular? But conscience asks the question - is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular; but one must take it because it is right.
-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.-

Powerful words to aspire to from a great man… Today in the U.S. we remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  It is significant that the U.S. has set aside this day to honor Dr. King. It brings hope to all.

Thoughts and prayers ascend for freedom, peace, respect and harmony for all.

For Christmas Honey Man totally surprised Queenie with a new computer, yeah!!! While transferring data from old computers to new computer I found a fun little picture…

Several years ago Queenie and Honey Man spent a weekend at Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Honey Man keeps this wee picture of Queenie on his computer…  How sweet is that!!!

I am truly blessed.  I love you Honey Man!!

Have a great day,

Harvest Time

Harvest Time!!!

Harvest Time???

Yes! Its Harvest Time in Arizona!

Our beautiful citrus is at the ripening ready…

Orange orbs of love

Lemons on the verge

A bumper crop me thinks

Where last year they were only three

This year there is a mighty crop

Ripe and…

Ready to be picked

Donned in his picking gear Honey Man climbed the ladder and

With much anticipation the picking began

And continued...

Until just right

Queenie foresees orange juice in the very near future

For Christmas the Queenie Mother and Father gifted us with a beautiful Juicer, yeah!!

With oranges in hand

The peeling began

Both Queenie and Honey Man at the task

Even though Queenie got a little side tracked making orange rind roses...

There was enough to let the juicing begin

The royal kitchen filled with the wonderful aroma of oranges as the juicing commenced

Within mere moments there was juice… even enough to share

Cheers!

Have a great day!

Happy 2012!!!

Happy New Year!!! Happy 2012!!! Here’s to the start of a wonderful New Year!!!  And… Happy Centennial celebration year to the State of Arizona!!!

Between paper pushing at the mundane, decorating for the holidays, buttering pierogis, pampering the Delicious and spoiling Honey Man, Queenie snuck in a wee bit of work on the Centennial art quilt.
When last we looked in on this quilt adventure only one saguaro cactus was standing.  Now, two majestic cacti flank either side of Arizona.  There is now light at the end of the tunnel for the top of this celebratory quilt.  To see previous installments of the Arizona art quilt adventure, click here and click here.

For many the start of a new year is a time of setting goals and reflecting on missed expectations… Hmmmm…
Psssst… a little royal secret…  Queenie really does not set forth a list of “New Year’s Resolutions.” We are not amused by the possibility of self imposed failure. –lol-

In this season of Queenie’s timelessness, I daily try to quietly and simply do my best to humbly accept the successes, graciously learn from the failure, appreciate each day as it comes and be thankful for even the littlest of things.

Whatever your tradition may be at the start of a New Year let Queenie, and her Court wish you all the best and much success throughout 2012.
And…
A BIG Thank You to all of our followers and visitors for your kind words and continued visits to Queenie’s wee blog!!!

Have a really great day

Always, Queenie Believe
