Days Gone By

Don’t ya just love photos from days gone by… I do!!
The black and white and sepia tones magically transport one back in time.  This photo comes from the archives of the Gilbert Historical Museum a wonderful little museum in the heritage district, downtown Gilbert, Arizona.
Among the many wonderful programs at the museum is an on-going Quilting Bee. A group of dedicated volunteer quilters take folks quilt tops and finish them off with beautiful hand quilting. Just as in days gone by the quilt top, batting and backing are affixed to large quilting frames and the tallented quilters work their hand quilting magic.

If you have a special quilt top you would like finished with hand quilting click here for more information.

Recently my cousin posted this family picture on Facebook...
Tis the Queenie Father’s family in days gone by.
And if you look close you will see a wee Queenie in the early years of her monarchy.
What! Beautiful and loving Queenie Parents, don’t you think!!

Have a great day!

Summer Vacation

Last week Queenie and Honey Man were far far away from the Hermoso Castillo visiting the vacation hot spot of the country, beautiful Ohio.  As you may recall the Queenie Mother and Father live in Ohio. Having grown up there, I must say Ohio really showed itself off with picture perfect weather.
Our first stop was to Waterville, the cutest little restored canal town ever! Located right along the Maunee River…
Waterville has done a lovely job restoring a part of the Erie canal system.
Next, we took a day trip to Amish country in Indiana.  Honey Man (my sunkissed Californian) had never been to Indiana.  We adventured to Shipshawana. Fun name for a town me thinks.
Where automobiles share the road with horse and buggy!
What Amish community would be complete without a car buggy wash.
Earlier this week was Honey Man’s birthday… Pssst… Just between you and me it was one of those milestone birthdays.
So, Queenie planned a special adventure for Honey Man because he is “my little rock and roll”
A trip to Cleveland's…
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum!!!
After we walked our feet off at the museum we stayed the night in Lakewood, a beautiful community nestled on the shore of Lake Erie.
From the beach you could see the skyline of the great city of Cleveland.
As with every great body of water there are Seagulls a plenty.
On our way back to the homestead we stopped off in Fremont and toured the grounds of the Rutherford B. Hayes House.
I remember as a young school girl touring the house and have been in love with it ever since.
Queenie and Honey Man even snuck in 9 holes of golf at the Bowling Green State University’s golf course.
All in all it was a awesome vacation
and a good time had by all!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Summertime

“Summertime… And the living is easy…”
Queenie loves, Loves, LOVES Summertime. It has been and always will be my favorite season ever since Queenie was a wee one.  I think this is why the desert southwest of the U.S. is such a good fit for Queenie and her Kingdom.
All types and varieties of summer flowers are blooming throughout the Valley of the Sun.

Queenie and her Honey Man are now proud owners of bicycles and enjoy early morning rides along the canals.
And when I say early I mean crack of dawn... While it is still nice and cool… Before the desert sun sky rockets temperatures to triple digits.  We’re talking hot enough to roast Ancho Chiles on asphalt.

Summertime also reminds me of family vacations in a car packed to the brim with camping equipment. Queenie and her Kingdom wish all those Summertime vacationing travelers safe travels…. And don’t you wish gas prices were this low?... Ah, those were the days –lol-

Whatever your Summertime entails may is be filled with living easy and love.

Have a wonderful weekend.
