Autumn in Arizona

Happiness is the Delicious in the cool of autumn in Arizona…

Their backyard kingdom a favorite spot…

Relaxing in the freshly sprouted grass…

Winter Rye, the lawns of the cool months… Fresh green, fine as hair, lush and full…

The mighty lemon tree full of tart green orbs at the ripening ready…

A canopy full of lemony yellow potential

Each bough heavy with fruit

Our fledgling orange tree making stellar effort

Stretching its limbs and creating beautiful orange love where last year there were only three…

This year are dozens…

Hoping your Thanksgiving was joyous and your autumn all you want it to be.

Have a great day!

Big Bed and Honey Man's Chair

Shouts of TREASURE!!! rang out around the castle recently for at long last the new furniture arrived, a reading chair for Honey Man and a big bed for both.

The first treasure to be brought to the royal bed chambers was the reading chair, thoroughly inspected by Minnie.

Surely this is a reading throne fit for Queenie’s Honey Man.

Next the mighty delivery men carefully assembled the long awaited big bed.

Queenie’s king sized dream bed full of design details to please.

Though Queenie is timeless, alas her visage has come to the point where comfort has merit…
Much merit…
Is necessary indeed

After the mighty delivery men completed their task it was to Queenie to adorn the royal big bed.  I asked my trusty entourage, Delicious if they would help. Alas, they did run with excuses of their backyard kingdom to be kept.

With scepter in one hand and new linens in the other the making of the bed was complete.  Surely this is a big bed fit for royalty.

Ahhhhhh… To rest to sleep

Have a great day.

Veterans Day – Thank you!

Today in the United States we remember, honor and commemorate those individuals that have served or are currently serving our country with military service.  Today, I honor Queenie’s baby brother who is currently serving in the Army.  I am so very proud of my brother, Briant for having the courage to follow his childhood dream of being a part of the U.S. Army. Though he is very much all grown up, Queenie still calls him “B”

About this time last year B was stationed in Alaska… Brrrrr says the Queenie in Arizona

Many have the courage to serve, few to do so starting at age 40.  Weathering the challenges of boot camp with others half his age and bravely serving wherever he is called go.  B is currently stationed in Afghanistan.

Thank you Briant and all who have or are currently serving in our armed services, your bravery and service to country is greatly appreciated!!!

Have a great day

Quilts for Honey Man’s Peeps, Princess Peepling

Welcome back!  Shall we continue with the tales of Honey Man’s Peeps…

As you recall Queenie created original one-of-a-kind quilts for each of Honey Man’s Peep Peeplings… Boy-yo, and the Best Friend Sisters. Today let Queenie tell the tale of the quilt for Princess, the first born peeping to Honey Man’s nephew and loving wife.

This Princess peepling lives in her feng shui-ed midcentury modern castle high atop the hill.  This is the first quilt Queenie created for a peepling of the new born variety.  So this quilt had to be a vision swirling with color and pattern. The types and kinds to foster much giggling, courageous crawling, sparks of wild imagination and endless games of boo! I see you! A story waiting to be created by a wee princess from each block…

The back of this quilt is a foretaste of the many exotic travels this Princess is sure to have.

Wherever this Princess peepling goes be it across the house or across the world she can be wrapped in a quilt of color, love and stories to be told.

Coming soon…  Veterans Day Tribute… and… Big Bed Treasure!

Have a great day!

Dia De Los Muertos - Dia De Bloglandia

Welcome intrepid travelers from the Dia De Bloglandia party co-hosted by the talented Rebecca of Recuerada Mi Corazon and Stephanie of Mango Studio.

Today I depart from the tales of the peepling quilts and reflect on Dia De Los Muertos, Day of the Dead also known, among other titles, as the Feast of All Saints and All Souls.  Queenie first learned of this holiday while still a theatre gypsy living for a short time in the land of enchantment, New Mexico.  The more Queenie learned about it the more I fell in love with this beautiful holiday.  In a nut shell it is the celebration and commemoration of those who have passed on before us through the veil to eternity.

Today I remember Honey Man’s Mother, Olga who passed through the veil in the early morning of Thursday, October 27, 2011, after a ten year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She loved cooking, gardening, golf and most especially her family.

About two months ago Honey Man’s family asked that Queenie create some sort of covering for Olga’s urn for when the time came.  After much thought, prayer and meditation I created this quilted box.

Queenie lovingly collected an assortment of flower print fabrics in the colors Olga enjoyed

The quilt piecing is in the rich style of a crazy quilt a form of quilting which layers with decorative embroidery and trim… The many roles this lovely lady lived

A crown of collected treasure sits atop… Children and their children the jewels of this mother’s crown

Inside awaits Our Lady who embraces those passed and lovingly holds those who remain

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for Honey Man and his family as they lay to rest a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace.
Amen.
