Quilts for Honey Man’s Peeps, Best Friend Sisters

As you recall when last we met you learned of Honey Man’s peeps and peeplings, and the quilt Queenie created for Boy-Yo.

Today let me tell the tale of the peepling quilts for the Best Friend Sisters.  In Queenie fashion I adventured back...way back, in fanciful flight remembering what a wee Queenie loved.  Visions of pink and purple sugar plum ballerinas danced in my head.

The oldest of the sisters was the very first born of all the grand peeplings.  As Queenie well knows the mantle of oldest is far from small so talented prima ballerinas were needed for this special first born.

A gentle reminder to the big sister peepling of the wonderfulness best friends can share especially when it’s sisters who love without end.

The younger of the sisters is sandwiched between two special firsts (big sister and baby Boy-Yo) a middle position not to be overlooked! Special care was taken and talent used to create a quit for sister number two.  Queenie called upon the Queenie Mother, a loving mom of great talent who created ballet embroidery especially for our peepling in the middle.

Queenie lovingly sprinkled like colors and fabrics throughout the one-of-a-kind quilts in hopes of reflecting the beauty in each special peepling sister united through a family of love.

Coming soon… The tale of the Princess peepling quilt… Do stop by.

Have a great day!

Quilts for Honey Man’s Peeps, Boy-yo, Blogger’s Quilt Festival

A very warm welcome to the intrepid travelers from the Blogger’s Quilt Festival, Fall 2011.  I hope you enjoy your stay.  The talented Amy at Amy’s Creative Side is the lovely hostess for this celebration of quilting.

Queenie’s husband, Honey Man has bevy of loving peeps in his family, two of which have entered the wonderful adventure of parenthood.  A niece peep and loving husband have two girls, the best friend sisters; and one boy, Boy-yo.  A nephew peep and loving wife have a girl, princess.  In honor of each special peepling, Queenie created an original, one-of-a-kind quilt made with love.

Today let Queenie tell the tale of the quilt for Boy-yo, the first born grandboy-peepling in the family.

The quilt is based on the “bugs in a jar” quilt block which I then adventured into a flight of fancy in fine Queenie tradition.

Once upon a time in a timeless land of farmyard lore and unending harvest, a young boy collected his treasures and dreams in old mason jars saved by the ancient to foster imagination in the young.  As the boy’s collection grew beyond the underside of his bed he searched the enchanted farmyard for a safe place for his dreams and treasure. He talked with all the animals of the farmyard large and small, pleading his plight. The cows and horses said “nehhhh and noooo.”  The pigs squalled with laugher, rolled in their wallow, snored and ignored. It was the hens and their hearts soft with love who gave of themselves as all loving mothers do.
Their coop now the place of little boy dreams and treasure held with jars for imagination in a house of love.

Coming soon… the best friend sisters quilts and the princess quilt.

Autumn in Arizona

With the blistering heat of summer broken, delicate flowers cover the back yard shrubs

In a glorious shade of purple that ushers Queenie’s kingdom into autumn and the Delicious into happy puppies

Elfins who are rarely seen

Treat us with their fleeting present.

Cool early autumn mornings find the Delicious out on the balcony

Surveying their backyard realm from above

Have a wonderful week.

Journal, Handmade, One of a Kind

TREASURE!!!

“Treasure!” is the exclamation sung out by Queenie or Honey Man when a package arrives at the castle. A short time ago whilst wandering around Etsy I happened across a wonderful shop called Making My Rent where the awesome Amber sells the most wonderful handmade journals I’ve seen in a long time. All her journals are handmade, one of a kind, treasures, each with a story of their own and made with love. After an extended period of window shopping each journal I decided on this journal made from an up-cycled, lost and lonely, copy of Where the Wild Things Are.

The front cover pictures our intrepid hero in his Doctor Denton jammies and the back pictures some of the wonderful Wild Things.

The journal is assembled with coptic-stitching which allows the journal to lay flat when open.  An aspect Queenie especially likes for sketching and noting my many flights of fancy into suspended disbelief.

After reveling in the newly opened treasure I added a picture.

And as is the Queenie tradition, I dubbed my wonderful new journal

Amber also trips the light fantastic in blogland.  To view her blog click here.  A little bird told me that she will soon be conducting her first give away.

Have a great day.

The Delicious

When Honey Man came into Queenie’s life so did two wonderful fur babies, Minnie and Callie.  As is the Queenie tradition, I dubbed them The Delicious… Minnie Delicious and Callie Delicious.

The Delicious are rescue dogs which were adopted by Honey Man and his big heart. Though we don’t know exactly how old they are our best guess is that Minnie is around 7 years and Callie is around 10 years.

Callie is the sweetest love puppy you will ever meet. She loves to give hugs, gaze fondly and wag her tail generously.

Minnie is our devoted, quirky, glamour girl. She loves being with her humans, giving kisses and giving more kisses.

The Delicious fearlessly show unconditional love; a richness Queenie and Honey Man are happy to receive everyday be it the always I’m so glad and excited to see you welcome or the unexpected paw that gently rests on a knee.
A very happy Friday to all!!

Queenie Believe and Honey Man

Amidst the sawing, hammering, and painting of a blog under construction I thought I would slip into a comfortable pair of training wheels, push aside the learning curve and post a few previews introducing you to Queenie and her court.

Queenie Believe is the alter ego of Guinevere an artist of fiber, paint and sculpture.  I cleverly disguise my royal visage during the “normal business hours” of the mundane as a paraprofessional paper pusher, slaying dragons and fighting injustice.

In days gone by, I was a theatre gypsy traveling from regional theatre to theatre throughout the land, sharing my costuming talents wherever I went.

Queenie now holds court in beautiful Arizona where it is almost always sunny and warm, just the right realm for flights of fancy and suspended disbelief.

On a beautiful spring day a brave, handsome and talented man crossed Queenie’s path. I knighted him Honey Man and he swept me off my feet and into his arms. It is there that we have found in each other our bestest friend, greatest love and soul mate.

On the Feast of Saint Bridgid of Ireland Queenie and Honey Man were wed.

An evening reception in the royal gardens was filled with traditional Irish music and liquid spirits galore. Party revelers feasted on corned beef and cabbage with, of course soda bread the tastiest of vehicles for a thick slathering of fresh Irish butter.

Thus was the start of the very best half of Queenie’s life with Honey Man…
and the Delicious…

More about the The Delicious to come…
