Embroidery Bee Quilty Adventures

Sir Owen the Innova and me are hard at work on the Queenie Mother’s Embroidery Bee Quilt.
I selected this lovely fabric for the backing, a soft mottled light green print that Queenie loves.
We started off with flowing…
S-curve feathers…
Undulating through the boarder..
With wee wreaths kissing in the center.
As I’ve been known to do, Queenie created a little story to help the quilty creativity flow…
Imagining the flower embroidery squares,
As collector china plates and the quilt their china cabinet.
Each plate is decorated…
With strings of pearls,
And individual…
Feather motifs,
All their own.
Hopefully, each embroidery square is its own featured treasure.
Admittedly, these carnations are Queenie’s favorite…
So far!
We’re not even have way through the blocks,
I’m sure to have many more favorites in store.

As always, there’s a Delicious close by, ever vigilant in her napping.
Minnie’s napping poses always make Queenie smile.

Until next time,
Have a great day!

Spring is in the Air

Spring is dawning at Queenie’s end of the internet.
The little orange tree that could…
And the mighty lemon tree
Are sending forth blossoms and the first perfumed breezes were detected just last week.
Queenie loves this time of year full of orange blossom fragrance and longer sun filled days…
Complete with Delicious sunbathing (a.k.a. napping) in their backyard kingdom.
Spring also brings the Gilbert Historical Museum’s annual Quilt Show.
The Queenie Mother has the beautiful Arizona Byways quilt on display.
Tiz the first quilt we’ve displayed at the museum’s show.
I continue quilting many projects with sir Owen the Innova…
Expanding and perfecting Queenie’s quilting prowess
In honor of Spring and in celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day, Queenie treated herself to pedicure…
For Spring and flip flops are truly around the corner.

Until next time…
Have a great day!

This, That, And The Other Things

Here we are two-thirds the way through January. The month is simply whizzing by.
Queenie’s Christmas town has faded into the mist until next year when it will once again magically appear like Brigadoon.
The Queenie Mother’s Blue Birds in Spring quilt is done, finished, complete!
A modern take on traditional red work,
Brimming with Spring time joy.
Just what many of us need in the deepest of winter time, especially those in the middle of the polar vortex.
Queenie continues her quilty sketches,
During her lunch hour at the mundane,
Working many variations on a theme.
Then experimenting with Sir Owen the Innova,
Working up samples of quilting from ideas in the sketches.
Queenie really likes this frolicking gem…
An avenue to be adventured down some more me thinks.

Until next time,
Have a great day!

Fall 2013 Blogger’s Quilt Festival

Welcome intrepid travelers from Amy’s Blogger’s Quilt Festival and regular visitors. I’m Queenie, welcome to my wee blog.  October 25 through November 8 are the dates of this fine festival of quilting adventures. It is truly a treat for the eyes and inspiring beyond belief.  AND! There are prizes galore!

For this festival I’m entering my Mom’s Arabian Nights quilt in the ROYGBIV (color wheel) Quilt category. Please click on any and all photos for a bigger, upclose view.

The Queenie Mother designed this quilt around a charm pack of beautiful batiks which she joined together  with interlocking gold and lavender sashing.
The charms are framed with three golden boarders of pink, lavender and purple.

Upon completion of the top, Queenie took the quilty reins and quilted it on my Innova longarm, Sir Owen.
I filled the boarders with undulating feathers and Greek keys with each charm filed with a quilting design I call halved papaya.

I selected a beautiful teal and brown batik for the backing and inserted a piping of it in the binding.
Quilt stats: Full size, pieced batiks, hand guilded custom quilting with 50 weight Aurafil cotton thread, 80/20 batting.

Thanks for stopping by Queenie’s wee blog.  Please click here to go to Amy’s Blogger’s Quilt Festival (and vote for me).

Thank you Amy for another outstanding Quilt Festival!!

Until next time…
Have a great day!
